Six Steps For A Great Body for 2013 By Troy Brown

By Troy Brown former Professional Athlete in two sports……

1. Persistence - In life, there are going to be ups and downs and achieving your dream body is no different. Having a never give up attitude is crucial. I think that persistence and patience go hand in hand in order to be the best you can be.

2. Vision - Have a clear plan of what you want with your physique. Then work on steps on how to get you there. Start to visualize your end result. Visualize winning or achieving your goal at night before you sleep and when you wake up in the morning.

3. Belief - This point is very important to achieving great success in physique transformation. I have seen many amazing people just come and go because they did not believe in  themselves. Believe you can do it and believe that you are good enough. There is greatness within you!

4. Focus - Focus on where you want to go with your physique. What are the things you need to do in order to have your dream body?

5. Discipline - I cannot enforce enough how important discipline is. You cannot let any other distractions get in your way. If your friends are going out for a night on the town and you have to workout in the morning the next day then this is where your discipline comes in. Should you go out? Probably not because you have big goals! Having the discipline to do the same things everyday is so important to having amazing physique. Find out what other people have done to be the best they can be. All of them will tell you that they had to sacrifice and have tremendous discipline in order to have a great body.

6. Support - A support group is very important to succeed such friends and family
. You have to be around positive people all the time to achieve your goals. If you hang out with negative people then you become very negative. Be around successful people, people who value their health and take care in of themselves. Your significant other can be a powerful tool. This person can be a key weapon in your arsenal in order to have the body of your dreams.

Stay healthy!!

Not Afraid To Sacrifice

High achieving people know that any big goal they are gunning for comes with a price tag. Some people think of how can they find short cuts to get them to their goal. Instead the goal achiever is willing to endure the pain and suffering every high achiever goes through. They know that there is no easy way. There is no easy ticket. If you you want to go pro in anything, there will be blood, sweat and tears on the way to the road to victory. I guarantee it.

The high achievers are not even surprised when pain and sacrifice kick in. They know that this is part of the process. The pro knows that they have to have what I call Rhino Skin when faced with adversity and that is all there is to it! The high achiever knows that there will be set backs and moments were they will feel like throwing in the towel but they understand that this is part of the journey. It allows them grow as individuals. They never ever quit even when they hit rock bottom.

It is sad for me to see other folks taking the easy way out just giving up but honestly they are robbing themselves of the experience they need to go to the next level. They are so close to a break through.

Rate yourself right now on scale of one to ten, ten being the highest, how much are you willing to  sacrifice to make your dreams come true. Are you willing to do what ever it takes or are you going to be like most people; extra’s in their own movie.

The goal achiever’s winning mindset is the fuel that drives them to persist at any cost, no matter how much they have to sacrifice. It is so wroth it in the end.

I will see you at the finish line!

It is that time of year where we are moving into the holiday season. This is where you will find most people start to slow down. I believe this is the time to separate from the crowd and lead the charge.

This is the time of year where people start making classic excuses (see my Excuses Be Gone blog) where as the winners break away from the crowd. Winners shift into turbo mode and push hard to the end of the year which is now fast approaching us all. The winners know this and this is why they step up their game and push hard to the December 31st finishing line. While most people start spending a lot of their time investing in happy hour or catching up on the next episode of the X Factor TV show.

I really encourage you not to slow down this time of year. Instead speed up but while always remaining calm. By December 31st you will be in a great position for the start of the new year.

You may get the odd person telling you to slow down and the they may even say “hey it’s the holidays let’s have some fun. We can really crank things up come January 1st and go hard.” I think this is a big mistake!

Whatever you are going for do not get distracted over the holiday season. Do not let others around you slow you down. The finishing line is now in sight so let’s push really hard to the end of the year. This will set you up perfectly for January 1st 2013.

Success & Exercise Go Hand In Hand

Most people think that exercise is for young people and that exercise has nothing to do with success in business. I happen to think that this is not true. In fact you will see that many large companies invest in their employees to exercise by setting up corporate rates in gym establishments. I have even seen large companies have workout facilities in the their buildings! The people at the head of the company know that regular exercise is the key to long lasting energy and good health. They know that if their employees exercise the staff will be more productive and take less sick days.

Healthy successful people have known this for years. They always invest up to one hour a day in some form of their favourite exercise. They make it their life style so it becomes an ingrain habit. Most people we know spend more time watching their favourite athletes exericse on TV where they could be getting off the coach and exercising themselves.

Successful people make it high priority to exercise and put it at the top of their to do list each day. They see that exercise is just as important as closing a big deal at work. Some people think that working out is chore; while successful people see it as an absolute necessity to get them ahead in life.

With exercise comes an abundance of energy to get through the day especially when stress is high. Saying that you do not have time to exercise is delusion! (see my blog post on excuses be gone)

My advice to you if you choose to except it is to get your calendar out at the start of the week and plan your whole day around your exercise time. In other words move things around so you can get your workouts in. Even a 15 minute workout will do the trick. Above all your body will thank you for it.

Healthy regards,

Anyone been watching the Olympics? I have not taken my eyes of it for a second. Seeing these incredible athletes doing what they love and being world class at what they do really got me thinking about what it takes to be a champion. We can all learn something from these world class athletes. I think the Characteristics below really sums up what it takes to be the best in any endeavor.

1. Persistence - In life, there are going to be ups and downs. Having a never give up attitude is crucial. I think that persistence and patience go hand in hand in order to be the best you can be.

2. Vision - Have a clear plan of where you want to go in your endeavor. Then work on steps on how to get you there. Start to visualize your end result. Visualize winning or achieving your goal at night before you sleep and when you wake up in the morning.

3. Belief - This point is very important to achieving great success in an endeavor. We have all  seen many amazing people just come and go because they did not believe in themselves. Believe you can do it, believe that you are good enough and believe that you deserve it.

4. Focus - Focus on where you want to go. What are the things you need to do in order to be a champion at your endeavor?

5. Discipline - I cannot enforce enough how important discipline is. You cannot let any other distractions get in your way. Having the discipline to do the same things everyday is so important to be a champion. Find out what other champions have done to be the best they can be. All of them will tell you that they had to sacrifice a lot and have tremendous discipline in order to be the best.

6. Support - A support group is very important to succeed as a champion. You have to be around positive people all the time to achieve your goals. If you hang out with negative people then you become very negative. Be around successful people, people who are world class at what they do.

Energy Vampires

If you are finally wanting to go after that goal you have been trying to go after for so long then I suggest that you listen up. If you have goals and dreams then you want to begin with getting all the toxic people out of your life! This could be perceived as a little harsh. Do you know what I mean?  The people who just drain you…..I like to call them energy vampires.

What I have come to believe is that it takes a lot of energy to reach your main goal. You want to move ahead but you have these energy vampires around your neck sucking the living day lights out you. I just read recently that there are two types of relationships. There are cultivating relationships and there are toxic relationships. Cultivating relationships are the ones that inspire you and motivate you. These kind of relationships bring out the best in you! And then there is toxic relationships. These people seem to always remind you that it cannot be done. They remind you of all the mistakes you have made in the past. I know people who quit going after their goal all because of a negative comment they got from someone.

Ask yourself these questions:                                                                                                           Is this person motivating me to pursue my dream and are they bringing the best out of me? Do they inspire me to keep going when bumps in the road occur?

You can use this example in most things such as starting up your own business. Do your friends support you in your new venture or do they find faults with your new business and criticize you? As Les Brown says “One energy drainer can spoil your whole life”

So if you are on the verge of finally going after your goal once and for all, stop and ask yourself if the people you hang around with will support you or will they criticize you? Make a decision right now….do these people stay or will they go?

Thanks for reading.

With gratitude,

Troy :)

Be In It For The Long Haul

One of the common reasons why people fail when it comes to transforming their bodies into a lean, fit, toned machine is that they are too impatient. Most of the time people do not stick to a plan long enough to see the results. They bounce around from diet to diet and buy the latest exercise machine hoping for the magic to happen overnight. This type of behaviour rarely produces results and decreases your chances of ever achieving your fitness goals!

The one common denominator in transforming your body is consistent execution for a long period of time! I tell all my clients I mentor and coach that it will take around six to seven weeks of executing the workouts and healthy nutrition plans before really seeing any changes. You have to remember in the first six to seven weeks you may not see visible results but what is so key here is that you are laying down the foundation for all the exciting changes to come in the future. Another key word I have mentioned before in previous blogs is commitment and if you do commit and get over that hump, by weeks 12 and beyond you will be very happy with your results.

We are a society of instant gratification. You could say we live in a microwave society and people want results overnight. If this was the case we all would be walking around with abs of steel, doing triathlons and living long fit healthy lives. I know the mental aspects and emotional challenges can be tough. I know the temptation is always there to jump ship and do something new but I promise you perseverance and patience will prevail. You will be rewarded in abundance!

You can apply this in to anything in your life such as starting up your own business, learning a new trade or learning to play a new musical instrument. Remember, it will not happen over night. You have to be patient!

The Apothecary Scale

Have you ever seen an apothecary scale? This scale is the kind with the cross arm that hangs two bowls with chains. It is the symbol of justice that the law profession uses. So let’s take a look at this scale in greater detail. Let’s say one side on the scale represents good habits and the other side represents rewards. Now let’s look at this from the perspective of a person who wants to lose weight. Let’s say this person is stuck and they are not getting the rewards (weight loss). What is the person putting into the good habit bowl? If the person really wants to lose weight but they are not putting any good into the good habit bowl the chances are that the rewards bowl we be completely empty, in other words no results!

Now let’s say another person puts in the work everyday and I mean they are super consistent. They eat healthy foods, they exercise everyday and they really take care of themselves. You will see on the other side of the scale the rewards bowl will be full. In others words they are getting results and they are losing weight consistently. These people are happy, they feel successful and they are on top of the world. This is all because they developed the necessary habits of eating right and doing some form of exercise everyday. The rewards bowl is over flowing.

You can use this apothecary scale in anything in life. What are you putting into the good habit bowl? Are you committed to putting in the work to get the rewards? The law of cause and effect states what ever you put out comes back. With every action is an equal and opposite reaction. Good habits, good results. Bad habits, bad results.

Put more into the good habit bowl everyday and then see the magic happen!

You Have To Believe

I was recently talking to a lady who I personally trained the other day. She had this weight loss goal and she was very nervous about it. She said to me that she did not think that she could do it and basically doubted her own ability. she desperately wanted to lose weight.

I told her something that she needed to hear and what I said could help us all in anything that we are going after. Here is what I told told her…If you have the desire to do anything then you must clearly understand that you have the ability to do anything! I then went on to say that it is not talent and ability that we you are lacking. What you are lacking is belief in yourself. If you have the picture in your mind of what you want then you are very capable of doing it!

Belief is such a powerful word. In fact, I remember reading one time that the great tennis player Venus Williams once said; “You have to believe in yourself even when no one else does and that’s what makes a winner”

Sometimes it might feel like the whole world is against you nobody is supporting you but this is the time when you have to dig deep. This is the time to bring the very best of you to the surface. You have to believe in yourself even when no one else does and that’s what makes a winner!

I highly suggest that you write out Venus Williams’s quote and put it up some place where you can see it everyday so that you burn the quote into your mind!

There is greatness within you and you have the ability to do anything you want. All you have to do is believe in yourself!

I believe in you!

A Little Fish Out Of Water!

May25

Hi everyone,

This one is short and sweet…..

Take a look at the picture to your right for a moment. It is a great picture!

When was the last time you felt like a fish out water and are you going for that bigger pond? Are you comfortable where you are and deep down, you really don’t want to be uncomfortable? Ask yourself a question. Are you really going for it? I would suggest that you print out the picture on the right and leave it were you can see it often.

Do you play to win or are you playing not to lose? I think most people are playing not to lose. My advice is that if you are not playing to win then you are sure enough cheating yourself and you are staying in the little pond.

When playing to win you are not afraid to take risk and don’t get me wrong you will feel like a fish out of water but remember this …..”The greatest risk is not to risk at all”

I would hate to think that I stayed in the little pond all my life so why not look at this picture. Really look at it and do what that little fish is doing. Get out of the little pond, it is way to crowded in there anyway. Make a decision right now that you will jump out of the little pond and never allow yourself to go back to the little pond ever again.

You will be so glad you did!
